Meet Justice Yañez

Linda Yañez learned about hard worked at an early age. She picked cotton in the fields of South Texas as a teenager, traveled with her parents for work in Illinois factories, and later became a teacher, an attorney, and a Judge. As a mother and grandmother, Linda is quick to thank her parents and grandparents who helped raise her. But she is also deeply grateful to the document she's fought to protect throughout her career...the United States Constitution.

It's a document that makes us like no other country. We are a nation of laws. Individuals have rights. And the principle of equality means that people are judged by their merits, not by their status or background.

Last session, Texas' all-Republican Supreme Court ruled unanimously in 90% of its cases, causing many to question its independence and ability to protect those rights for all Texans. That's why so many are looking to the candidacy of Justice Linda Yañez to restore public confidence in the Court and renew its commitment to balance and judicial independence.

Above all, she offers a simple judicial philosophy: "I believe in judicial restraint...I believe a judge cannot bring an agenda to the bench. The only way to resolve the complex issues that come before our state's highest court is through an open mind, independent thought, and a willingness to debate the legal questions at stake."
